It’s time for a reality check and time to have a good look at you.
The most important factor in finding a new career option is to be sure you know what you want.

If you have lost your job and have been out of the workforce for some time your confidence will be low and you may be out of touch with job searching techniques.

Identifying with others:
Maybe you can identify with those people who have no computer or work processing skills, so have avoided applying for jobs requiring those skills even though they had relevant experience in all other areas of the job.
By taking steps to undertake training and gaining work experience you can fill gaps in your skills.

Are you re-entering the work force?
If you are re-entering the workforce you may need to consider re-training or updating your skills. It may have been some time since you worked in administration and the data entry programs have changed, all that is needed is to upgrade those old skills. Check the yellow pages for local TAFE and private training organisations will have a list of courses available for you to choose from and the cost can be minimal.

Have you been busy organising the household, providing data entry services for the local parents and friends school counsel? Perhaps you have been coaching the local sports team? Have a think of the skills you have been using for these roles.
While the world may appear more complex, competitive and requiring more skills, there are still many fundamental skills and attributes which are gained over time and from a variety of sources.  Age and employment.
