Application Letters
What is an application letter?
An application or cover letter is a way to introduce yourself and convince the employer that they should offer you an interview. It gives you the opportunity to present yourself, your skills and a brief work history or summary to the employer that will compliment your accompanying resume.
The application or cover letter should clearly state; who you are, what you can do, a brief work history, why you are the best person for the job and why the employer should interview you.
There are two types of application letters:
Responding to an advertised position-
This is where an employer has advertised a position in the local media and is calling for application letters along with a resume.
Canvassing a company for a position-
You have heard that there could be an opening coming up in a company that you would like to work for and wish to submit an application letter.
