First day at work First day on the job

Your first day:
Your first day on the job can be both exciting and nerve-racking as you expand on your skills and settle into your new working environment.
Some of you will be worried that you will be unable to do the job or cope with such a big change in your life.

We are all different:
In the first few weeks you may get frustrated by some of your co workers, this is perfectly normal as we are all different and have our own styles. See this as a challenge and look for ways to communicate better. You never know, you just might have a lot in common.

Introduce yourself:
Introducing yourself to everyone you meet is a good way of showing you intention to be part of the team, you will find that most people are willing to make you welcome and show you the ropes.

Keep a work diary:
Using your diary is a great way to be on time for meeting and prioritize the work given to you by your supervisor. Let them know how your going so they can offer suggestions if you feel that your not fully coping. This will also indicate to the supervisor that you are trying hard and willing to ask questions if you don’t understand something.

Give it time:
As you learn more skills and get to know your new co workers, you will find that with time it will all fall into place.

Rewards and opportunity:
Starting work can be fun and rewarding, the more you put into a job the more you get out and if you do it well there is always the opportunity to move to a more exciting position in the future
